Amdocs, Array Networks, HP and Sun Microsystems Conduct Industry's Largest Scalability Test of Software to Support the World's Leading Telecommunications Providers

Amdocs software scales to support more than 65 million subscribers<

Amdocs, Array Networks, HP and Sun Microsystems are conducting the industry’s largest scalability test for telecommunications providers with Amdocs’ systems. The rigorous test will demonstrate the ability of Amdocs’ software to seamlessly provide support as the number of users increases dramatically. It will be conducted in a simulated environment of 65 million subscribers generating two million database transactions per hour across the full Amdocs platform. Knowing that their technology solutions are able to keep up with rapid subscriber base growth allows communications service providers (CSPs) to focus on building more profitable relationships with their customers.

Fully operational, customer-specific code of the software is used in the test in order to assess Amdocs software’s performance in a real life situation - something that tests performed with generic or lab-modified code cannot attest to. The Amdocs software being tested can support as many as 70,000 concurrent users and includes billing, CRM, order management and self-service products.

The major partner in this significant benchmark is HP. The high end HP Superdome, HP BladeSystem and HP ProLiant servers, HP XP12000 storage arrays, and the company’s expertise in telecom billing is enabling the scalability of Amdocs systems and backend databases. HP is also contributing the use of the HP Solution Center in Houston, TX, where the benchmark is being conducted.

Sun Microsystems is the second major partner in this benchmark, enabling scalability via its high and mid range servers, such as the E6900 and V480, and the Java Enterprise System to support front-end web applications such as CRM, self service and order management.

For these scalability tests, Amdocs also integrated with strategic, industry-leading software, hardware and applications providers, including Cisco Systems, Array Networks, BEA Systems, and Oracle Corporation.

"As the telecommunications industry continues to consolidate and the competition intensifies, it is critical that CSPs deploy flexible and scalable solutions to seamlessly support their new and expanded subscriber base, all while providing customers with an intentional and differentiated customer experience," said Harel Kodesh, chief products officer of Amdocs. "Amdocs’ solutions are uniquely designed to enable CSPs to deliver a superior customer experience while responding rapidly to changing market dynamics."

Based on more than 20 years of experience as a trusted business partner to the world’s leading telecommunications companies, Amdocs’ software is designed to scale - reliably and cost-effectively supporting a CSP’s entire customer base regardless of size. Amdocs’ software enables CSPs to accelerate their adoption of an integrated customer management strategy - breaking down silos and creating an agile and aligned organization to place the customer at the center of the business."

The objective of the test is to provide a proven solution for communications service providers as they look for unparalleled scalability to manage and grow their customer base," said Sebastiano Tevarotto, vice president and general manager, Network and Service Provider Solutions, HP. "By combining Amdocs’ innovative software with HP expertise and market-leading platforms, we have created an environment that brings today’s leading telecommunications providers the maximum capacity to accommodate new customers."

"The telecommunication industry is at a key inflection point precipitated by significant global consolidation, emerging technologies and rapidly increasing numbers of subscribers in emerging markets," said Darrell Jordan-Smith, VP of Global Telecommunications, Sun Microsystems. "Sun Microsystems and Amdocs have joined forces to help companies meet the increasingly complex demands of their growing businesses."
